Fiber optic access is commonly considered to be the ultimate solution for broadband connectivity. It provides virtual unlimited bandwidth and enables simultaneous delivery of multiple services.

The purpose of this feature is to provide device auto-provision function in firmware upgrade and configuration settings with DHCP option 43. In addition, it can help service operators to efficiently reduce the complexity and cost of deployment of CEP to end-users.

When remote CPE connection, it will receive DHCP option 43 information (include firmware version or configuration settings) from ISC DHCP server, then the CPE will compare currently firmware and configuration with DHCP option 43 information.

If firmware and configuration setting is the old version, CPE will try to get the newest file from File Server by TFTP or FTP protocol. After CPE get the newest file, it will upgrade then.
