(June 19, 2009) Connection Technology Systems (CTS) sponsored in the multi-vendor Ether OAM (IEEE 802.1ag) interoperability test that took place in Interop ShowNet in Tokyo. The test environment “ShowNet” included various carrier-class Ethernet devices sponsored by multiple venders. As part of the event, CTS’s ESH-3105 professional Metro Ethernet switch successfully interoperated with other vendors in IEEE 802.1ag Ethernet OAM standard.

The End-to-End OAM is the major concern for service providers who are looking for Carrier Ethernet services. IEEE 802.1ag standard is designed to meet the needs of service providers so as to achieve proactive network and service monitoring as well as rapidly fault detection and isolation, which enhances End-to-End Ethernet service level.

ShowNet Network Topology

"ESH-3105 is an ideal IEEE 802.1ag customer premise equipment (CPE) for carriers to enhance Ethernet service network in a cost-effective way. " stated by Jennifer Shieh, Vice President of Marketing and Sales Department at CTS.  “To provide carrier grade of Ethernet service network, the customer premise device must be 802.1ag OAM feature enabled. The test results proved that CTS’s CPE with 802.1ag capability can work with equipment from worldwide vendors”.
